Vacuuming With robotvacuummops is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This premium Eufy bot is the most hands off model we have tried so far. It vacuums, mops, self-empties, and washes and dry mop pads without your involvement.
It doesn't come with advanced cleaning modes or a bigger docking system, but it offers stellar performance at less than half the cost of top-end robotic vacuums. It's compact and is able to reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
A robot vacuum is an easy and quick method of keeping your floors spotless. A majority of the robots featured that we have selected are designed to work without your involvement You can set them to run when you're out or trigger cleaning sessions using your smartphone. But, you should select a model that has superior navigation and obstacle detection to ensure that it won't get stuck down the stairs or under furniture.
It is crucial to select the right robot vacuum to effectively and efficiently clean all kinds of flooring. Find a model with a an empty bin that is able to hold plenty of dirt in between emptying and a nozzle that does not lose suction when it rotates to remove debris.
Most robots require little to any maintenance, other than removing tangled fur from the rotating brush after every cleaning session (and wiping its camera or sensors as needed) and then periodically emptying the bin or using a robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these easy maintenance steps, your robot vacuum will last as long as a regular vacuum, and will help keep your home cleaner for longer.
While robot mops are generally less versatile than their vacuuming counterparts they do have the ability to clean up spills and puddles while they're doing their thing. The iLife V3s Pro, a excellent example of this kind of machine, is a great choice for those with carpets and rugs or wood flooring. It's quiet and has solid navigation capabilities that allowed it to avoid obstacles during testing, and the charging dock doubles as a trash bin.
For the best results, select a robot that can handle both vacuuming and mopping at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 does that, and has other features that are useful like a live camera, which transmits a blurry picture to your app, so that you can keep an eye on your pet or kids and remote controls that are easily programable. Its navigation may not be as precise as the other models on this list but its 500ml trash bin is spacious and doesn't need frequent emptying.
Mopping
Robots that vacuum and mop are relatively new to the market. They are more expensive than standalone robots and require a separate water tank, however, the additional cost could be worth it for many people, especially those with hard-to-clean stains or pets.
Some of the top robots that vacuum and mop can also do a great job in cleaning floors that are not clean and carpets. Many brands are now offering all-in-one machines that can do both jobs extremely well. The Combo J9+ is one of the most efficient mopping robots that we've test. It uses a dock that can store up to 60 days worth of debris. This is a huge improvement over the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping just 30 days' worth of dirt during our tests.
The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP-Link is another very good two-in-one. It's compact, quiet and has an attractive, clutter-free appearance. In our test rooms, it cleaned the floors thoroughly and accurately and efficiently. It was particularly effective on rugs but it took several runs to completely clean some areas of soiled wood. Its LIDAR navigation system performs well, avoiding bumps into furniture or tripping over power cords.
It's a bit sluggish on the stairs, but that's to be expected from a compact robot designed to work around obstacles. Its only downside is its mopping pad attachment, that was difficult to use and didn't stay in place during our tests. It also lacks the ability of handling dust that has dried, making it more like an ordinary vacuum cleaner than a robot mop.
Despite these shortcomings, it's still a solid choice for those who want an effortless cleaning experience that can take care of carpets with equal ease. It has decent suction, which has helped to clean fine dust and pet hair from carpets. One of the best features is its automatic carpet recognition, which increases the strength of the vacuum to better tackle embedded dirt. It's also easy to use and has a handy charging dock that automatically empty the bin once it's filled, which is a great benefit for flat dwellers.
Cleaning Apps

Most robot vacuums mop, sweeper, or mop has an app that lets you customize cleaning routines, pick rooms to clean, schedule cleaning sessions, and change settings such as suction, water level and scrubbing power. Some robots offer intelligent dirt detection, which uses map data and past cleaning data to determine the most soiled areas.
A smartphone app can also allow you to create virtual barriers and no-go zones to protect your robot from dangerous items such as cords and pet water bowls and sharp objects. Some models have laser navigation sensors that permit you to create virtual barriers, while others come with small physical barriers and boundary strips can be placed wherever you'd like to limit your floor area.
There are still risks to be aware of even though the most effective robot vacuums can recognize and navigate around obstacles. For instance, the main brush could get stuck on long cords or curtains and stop the machine from moving. You can prevent this from happening by clearing the area of any cords and tie up any curtains that are long prior to running your robot.
Some robots will automatically update the software that governs their navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithms, which enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal components. It is a good idea to periodically to check the manufacturer's site or your robot's app for updates to firmware.
If you live in a huge house, choose one that comes with several cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max, for instance, can be used to vacuum and mop on carpeted floors as well as hard floor rooms with different suction levels. It can also automatically switch to the highest power setting on carpets and increase its scrubbing power by using SmartScrub.
If you're looking to be hands-off, a robot with a voice-activated assistant is an excellent choice. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be operated by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It has a small self-emptying docking system as well as a powerful cleaning motor that will leave your floors sparkling.
